Valentine’s Day Shopping with Catherine’s

Image
This post is sponsored by  Catherine’s .  Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching! Whether you have a sweetie or not, people celebrate it all sorts of ways! Pink cupcakes and cookies taken to work, heart shaped doughnuts, candy and cards in your kids classrooms- the thrill of love is in the air!  I decided to go to the  Downtown Market  in Grand Rapids and look around for some unique gifts. I wore this fun outfit from  Catherine’s  and it definitely put me in the mood!  I love this  striped top with sequin hearts !  It’s such a fun top! I paired it with the  red knit jeans  and  wide calf black boots . For accessories, I love these  heart earrings  and I’m even wearing matching  socks !  I looked around at a few places in the market.  Love’s  has some of the best treats around! I love their ice cream and they have a lot of fun boxed items that can be purchased as well!  Aperitivo ...

2014 Closet Remix Challenge: March and April Recap

Image
I thought I would put both months together this time since the outcome was pretty much the same... Well folks, this whole post could be summed up in two words: I failed. However, I choose not to see it as a failure but as an opportunity to do better next time. I'll explain. And yes, by the way, I will admit I have been putting off posting this too...which is why I made it into a two month recap really... I did well in March and, in fact, even returned items that I purchased before. But then, I took a trip to the mall mid-month and decided to really look at some new spring and summer items for myself. I sold a lot of my stuff last year on Poshmark for spring and summer so I decided to take advantage of the many sales that happen this time of the year.  I didn't stay on track for buying only items on my list. In fact, I decided to get a little more creative and look for some things that were unique but still would match with other items in my closet so I could wear th...

2014 Closet Remix Challenge: February Update

Image
I've got spring fever! I need to get into the world and out of the house! February being the shortest month was one of the longest for me. I swear I have that SADD and find it hard to do anything after I finish working. It's so dark and cold out and I just am so tired and have no energy.  What does all of this have to do with the challenge? Actually a lot. I'm an emotional shopper just like I am an emotional eater. Since I haven't been shopping, I've been eating. If you give up one thing, you have to replace it with another. I'm smarter now that I realize this. I feel like this last month it was a lot harder to not shop. I see people on IG who say " I fell off the wagon" or "I did a month and I can't handle it anymore" or "this item was so worth it". I hear you all and I definitely relate to everything that you say.  I felt the urge to shop this month way more than in January. And you know what? I did actually shop. I made a lis...

Black Friday or is it Black Thursday?

Image
Well, this year, I became one of those people. Two friends and I set out to start our Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving night. We met at one house at 7:30 pm to get to Target. My one friend was looking for a good deal on a television and Target had one. It was a 50" television for a great price. We got to Target and the parking lot was already full and the line was long outside the building. We packed our coats and gloves and patience and waited in line till they opened.  I think out of all of the stores we visited, Target was by far the best and most organized. They had employees walking the line and letting us know the 50" television was gone(they passed out tickets to the first people in line) and handed out store maps and Cliff and Luna bars. They were all polite and helpful answering questions and making us happy. Once it was 8:00, they opened the door and it was single file line into the store. There were barricades up so no one could cut in line and there was only one...
