Sunday Style: DIY Outfit Planning

Image
It's so cold out that I decided to forget about a regular Sunday post and share another fun and easy DIY I did today!  Outfit planning! Do you do it? Love it? Hate it? I'll admit that since I work from home, I am a little spoiled and can decide what to wear that morning or even throughout the day. There's no rush unless if I have to be somewhere or if I am going out of town.  I decided though to try outfit planning this week and I am super happy with the results and ready to get this week started!  I looked first at the days of the week and if I had anything special going on. Next, I looked at style challenges on Instagram to see if I wanted to participate at all. I decided I could wear something every day that fit into a challenge. Obstacle one! For me that's the hardest part is looking in the closet and seeing what goes with what or if I can participate.  I went through my closet and found outfits for the week. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was ...

It's Raleigh Happening!

Image
I'm kind of behind on my blog posts. I've been busy with life and traveling last weekend. A girl needs to catch up on her sleep! I will post outfit posts later but I wanted to recap our spectacular time in Raleigh- you know, before I forget everything!  If you've been following along with me for a while, you know I love Instagram. It wasn't always that way though. I worked out in California a couple of years ago and noticed that it had some great filters and made my pics look awesome. I was private because I was taking pictures of fun stuff I was doing and some of family and friends. I really didn't want people to follow me because I didn't want to share my private life with the world. Fast forward to now when sometimes I wish life on IG was that easy! When people didn't "block" me out of spite (we all know you're mean anyways so no love lost) and people didn't make rude comments or try to sell you wraps. You might wonder why I stay...

Sunday Style: Pardon My French! (Otherwise Known as J Crew on a Budget)

Image
Yes, my darling, today’s outfit is all J Crew. I am not bragging but I did not pay a lot for these items that I am wearing.   Today I am sharing some things that I do to get the most bang for my buck when it comes to shopping at J Crew. I see so many people on Instagram wearing J Crew and love the way they style their items. J Crew is known for their high quality “preppy” style clothing. Their catalogs have models dressed perfectly for all occasions and they make wearing their clothing look like it makes life so much more worthwhile. Don’t get tricked into thinking that if you don’t wear a certain brand that you are not good enough! This is not an image that I like to portray. I am human and have imperfections just like everyone else but I do enjoy wearing fun and fashionable clothing at a discounted price.   I also, like everyone else, get sucked in seeing all of the stores’ new arrivals. With fall coming, it is especially easy to run out and buy all of the new...

September Pinned It, Spinned It: Week One

Image
I haven't been doing my own style challenges for a couple of months now. I had a lot of fun May through July hosting them but it got to where I wasn't really able to wear what I wanted. I took off a month in August and didn't participate in any challenges at all. It was great coming up with my own ideas and combinations and I didn't struggle at all, although I missed the comradery of others participating in the same challenge as myself.  When I saw the Pinned It, Spinned It was back from my girls Jamie and Amy (@jro1583 and @aem8168) on Instagram, I decided to join in on this one again. You all have seen my posts about loving Pinterest so I  thought this would be a great way to get back into the challenge game.  We started on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. I thought this was actually such an easy outfit to recreate on my own and it was perfect for the first day back to school.  Wednesday I took liberty and recreated an outfit using more of the si...

Joyful June Style Challenge

Image
We have only a couple more days left in May and I still cannot believe how quickly this month has flown by! I have been extremely busy these last few weeks primarily with work, but also in my personal life.   I find that I need to stop and think and live in the now because before you know it, you will be looking back and time will have flown by! Time is one thing that does not stop! Anyways, enough of that! I first rolled out the style challenge last week on Friday on Instagram.   I received a lot of requests from people asking for a June challenge since they enjoyed the May one so much. I am flattered that people have been doing the challenge and have been loving it! My goal is to create something that we can show our own personal style while having fun and wearing our clothes from our closet. I also love to build up and encourage other by showcasing a look from each day on the blog. More on that later… I also am participating in no shopping for the summer (with...

Marvelous May Style Challenge: Days 8-14

Image
Well, it happened again! Another week flew by! This style challenge has been so much fun! I know I made it up but I am allowed to say that it's been fun, right? I have enjoyed seeing everyone's pictures on Instagram and have loved connecting with new people!  Day 8- My Favorite Things- I always say my favorite things aren't things- but if I had to choose some things that I love to wear and use, this picture is a good example! I love wearing dresses (especially with pockets), statement necklaces, leopard print, bows on toes- you get the idea!  I chose to feature my pal Keila @mommyinmilwaukee on this day for a couple of reasons- first of all, she is one of the most adorable expectant mothers I have ever seen! Secondly, how could I not pick her since we match?  Day 9- Silver Linings- every cloud has a silver lining- we've ll heard this before so why not show off our silver? I'm doing this in the form of both shoes and accessories and wearing Old ...

Sunday Style: Perfectly Parisian

Image
Well, it happened again. I had a perfectly lovely outfit to wear and it dumped snow on us again. I can't really get away with wearing the beautiful striped dress and heels when there is so much snow on the ground! I am so over winter!  Anyways, I started a new challenge on Instagram yesterday called Style Me March. If you're on IG, you can use the hashtag #stylememarch to follow along with all of us doing the challenge. I love Hilary Rushford and the style challenges that she puts together. These are fun because they encourage you to use what you have and it's just basically a theme of sorts for the day. I can be as creative as I want when planning my outfits. Today's theme is Perfectly Parisian.  Now I have never been to Paris (I would love to go though someday) and am not really sure what one might wear there but I confess I did look at Pinterest to see what Parisian style might be. I already had a notion of what I might try to dress like when I picked out the...
