Curvy Girl on the Run

Has anyone ever told you that you shouldn't wear something? Like maybe not a certain article of clothing even but maybe a style? Big girls shouldn't wear stripes. Big girls shouldn't wear strapless. Big girls shouldn't wear... The list goes on and on.  Why shouldn't you wear what you love? Why can't you wear what you want? I'm of the school of thought that it it fits properly, it will look great. Two people could have completely different body types and still wear the same item as long as it fits properly. If it's hanging off your body so loosely, it looks just as bad as if it's too tight. It's the fit that counts. I wish more people realized this!  I have big arms. I'm still going to wear strapless. You know why? Because I love the way it looks and feels. Get a good strapless bra and you're good to go.  I'm wide and I have big hips. I also love stripes. Get over it. I'm not tiny but that doesn't stop me from wearing a pattern...

Another day, another Shabby Apple dress. You know, no big deal. Just me and one of my best gal pals Lynsie waltzing around town in our fancy dresses and carrying balloons.  People stopped to stare, people stopped to wish us Happy Birthday. We didn't have the heart to tell them that we were just doing a photo shoot!  What am I celebrating? Another day that I get to live and enjoy this life is a reason for me to celebrate! Throw in some balloons and a fancy party dress and life gets even more fun and memorable.  Enjoy every little moment that we are given. Take pictures if you need to remember or just close your eyes and put them in your memory bank for later like I sometimes do. Whatever your method, cherish the memories and continue your own celebration of life. I decided to do a more casual post for today's Sunday Style featuring a fun look with denim. These Royalty For Me  jeans are everything! The cut and feel and fit of these jeans make me so happy! I chose the  WannaBettaButt  style and I am so happy with them! They are so soft and the skinny jean style is just perfect. I chose a dark wash because I love that they are polished and slimming and can be dressed up or down.  I decided to pair these jeans with a black ruffle sleeveless top I have had in my closet forever and some bright pink heels. This week brought us a holiday (President's Day) which was much needed and I enjoyed a couple of nights out with friends and got my hair done. Yes, my darling, today’s outfit is all J Crew. I am not bragging but I did not pay a lot for these items that I am wearing.   Today I am sharing some things that I do to get the most bang for my buck when it comes to shopping at J Crew. I see so many people on Instagram wearing J Crew and love the way they style their items. J Crew is known for their high quality “preppy” style clothing. Their catalogs have models dressed perfectly for all occasions and they make wearing their clothing look like it makes life so much more worthwhile. Don’t get tricked into thinking that if you don’t wear a certain brand that you are not good enough! This is not an image that I like to portray. I haven't been doing my own style challenges for a couple of months now. I had a lot of fun May through July hosting them but it got to where I wasn't really able to wear what I wanted. I took off a month in August and didn't participate in any challenges at all. It was great coming up with my own ideas and combinations and I didn't struggle at all, although I missed the comradery of others participating in the same challenge as myself.  When I saw the Pinned It, Spinned It was back from my girls Jamie and Amy (@jro1583 and @aem8168) on Instagram, I decided to join in on this one again. Today's Joyful June Style challenge prompt is Feeling Fruity. I am still loving this Loft golden foil pineapple tee so I decided to take it out for a spin again today. Why not pair it with something different than what I would normally wear? That's when I thought of wearing monochromatic color today.  I paired the tee with these light brown patterned pants from Kohls last year and went with the gold flats. I have a hard time wearing such a neutral color with nothing bright so I decided to wear some color (even though more muted colors) with the outfit. I'm still loving my Anthropolgie inspired bead necklace from Groopdealz and, of course, the wire bangles are so fun and bring in more color!  I'm thinking I love the end result and don't know why I didn't think of wearing these all together before! I first posted a picture of this Land's End shirtdress weeks ago on Instagram. I've had this dress for years and I just love the classic lines and versatility of this dress! I received many compliments and even met a new friend who tweeted about my look! Needless to say, I was so flattered that someone thought this look was that good!  Fast forward to spring and I am wearing this dress again but updating the accessories to be more "spring-like". Another reason I pulled this dress out today is that on the Style Me April challenge for today, the description reads "always nabs a compliment".
