Sunday Style: May Florals

Image
May the fourth be with you! Okay- there's a little Star Wars humor for you! But seriously, I cannot believe that we are already into May! Today's Marvelous May Style challenge was a simple one of May Florals. I thought this jacket would be perfect for the challenge as well as for the weather we have been having. It's still only in the 50's today so a jacket was a good idea, as far as I am concerned. I also usually wear a dress to church on Sundays but today I just didn't feel like it. I love that we go to a church that accepts you as you are and doesn't demand a certain attire in order for you to attend.  I'm wearing this bright floral jacket over one of my favorite peplum tops and I just paired it with jeans today. I don't know about you all but sometimes I just want to be comfortable and wear a pair of jeans! I'm also wearing a pair of studded flats that I bought last year but I have never worn! I'm glad for closet remix challenges so ...

Sunday Style: Lace and Tweed

Image
I'm so tired of all of the cold weather and snow that we are having! I saw on the news today that we have had about 32" of snow in January and more is still falling! I'm so ready for spring! But alas, we will have to wait a little while longer!  Today's momod challenge is lace. I had a lace dress all picked out for today and decided to not wear it and go with pants instead since it's so cold! I have this salmon colored lace top from Loft (2012) and paired it with black jeans. I'm wearing this awesome tweed jacket that I got from Banana Republic a few years ago. I love mixing textures as much as I love mixing prints!  I went with black boots to match that are Bare Traps brand from DSW and look as good as they are comfortable.  For accessories, I'm wearing my dark metal necklace and earrings again from Premier Designs. I think these are are pretty and edgy at the same time. Probably some of my favorite pieces from them! I added my strand of pearls from J Crew...

10 Pieces, 7 Days

Image
I will first admit that this idea might not be originally mine. I saw an email from the Gap and they were showing off some of their pieces including outerwear and gave each day a title of something one might do on that day. They said they were using 10 pieces for 7 days. I decided to copy the idea but make it my own with clothing that is in my closet. If I did sit down and do outfit-planning once a week, I might spend less time deciding what to wear. Would I be more productive since I only have the same pieces to work with? Would anyone notice that I wore the same pieces all week?! Does anyone really care? These were all questions that I decided to try and answer.  First up, I had to pick out my pieces. I envision doing this when I travel and (gasp!) trying to only use a carry-on bag. I looked for pieces that could mix and match with others, look great on their own, and had personality. I decided to not count coats since I work from home and will go out a few times dur...

The Perfect Fall Sweater

Image
I have a lot of sweaters. I live in Michigan and it is cold what seems like all of the time except for a few weeks in the summer. Even some of those weeks I can wear light-weight sweaters. When I look for pieces, I like to look for things that have a personality. Maybe it is a pretty detail like lace or stitching or maybe it is a ruffle or a button. Something to make it special and stand out.  I found this sweater recently on a trip a couple of weeks ago to the LOFT store in Ann Arbor. I love this store for many reasons. One of them is the great customer service that I have received there including from my new friend, Zsa Zsa Bleau, who I met on Instagram. I also happen to love the way the store is laid out and the way that the staff helps to style items for you if you are at a loss for ideas.  She happened to be working the day I went in and I might mention there also happened to be a 50% off sale that day as well. She pointed out the sweater to me and said she thought I migh...
