Sunday Style: Do Something that Scares You

Today’s Sunday Style post is a little different. I am going to share a story about something that I did that scared me but I am also going to talk about one of my new favorite retailers, Universal Standard.  Stay with me, folks!

So a few weeks ago, I did a collaboration with Universal Standard and I wore two pieces from their collection, the Rhine Color Block Cuff Top and the Meuse Resin Jeans. You may remember me wearing them the  day before my birthday and matching my decorated cubicle. Anyways, I chose these two pieces because I was not familiar with this brand but I did like the denim and I thought the top would be a nice addition to my closet. I love the look and the fit of the both of the items that I wore!

Fast forward to this past week: Universal Standard is traveling across the country and they came to Dallas! I took a day off of work to go downtown and visit them at an art gallery where they were set up for the day. I was able to try on clothes-new and old styles, meet the co-founders, and make new friends.

Here’s what I did that scared me: I put on my black dress and nude heels and had head shots taken for the US model search. Who knows what will come of this. Who cares? I was nervous and scared about going there alone in the first place but I also took the plunge and tried out for the model search. While I am not certain what the outcome will be, I certainly enjoyed the entire experience and the afternoon was truly a delight.

Here’s a picture of me and what I wore in Uptown Dallas in the Design District to the model search:

Isn’t that door fun? True story- I used my tripod and timer to take this pic and after the pic fell down on the ground off of the sidewalk-OMG.

Here’s a pic of me with the sign-true story, you cannot smile for these head shots. They want to see people without smiles. I smiled for this shot since this was with my camera and I was happy to have the others done.

While I was there, I was able to try on some of the styles-here are a few pics of the outfits that I liked:

There were people there to help you try on items and help you style them. All around the art gallery were pieces to try on. Here are a few pics of the gallery to give you an idea of the setup:

I know people always say to do something that scares you-takes you out of your comfort zone. You might think this wasn’t a big deal since I take pics daily, but let me tell you, this is a big deal! I love this brand and I would love the opportunity to model for them. I will keep you all posted on the outcome but if you see me on a billboard in Times Square first, you will already know.

Thanks for reading and following along with me!
