Curvy Girl on the Run

So a weird title for something that I did, right? I checked a few things off my list recently and thought I'd share a couple with you in this post.  Have you ever been told that you need to take more risks in your life?  I'll admit that I might be a little "vanilla" at times, but I like to have a routine and I like to play it safe. I often stay in my comfort zone and don't try new things. My husband has always told me that I'm afraid of everything. While I don't necessarily see things the same way all the time, there is an element of truth to this. I shared this with another friend of mine who didn't necessarily think this was the case with me. She pointed out areas that I had taken risks like pursuing and completing my MBA while I was pregnant or traveling for all of these years, etc.  Fast forward to being thirty-nine (hence the forty before forty list) and finally starting to feel comfortable with who I am. Once again I am amazed at all of the beautiful and creative outfits that I am seeing during this month's style challenge! A lot of you know that I was out of town all week and didn't really have a lot of pictures taken while I was gone. My friend took a picture of me one day while we were walking in uptown Charlotte but other than that while I was gone, you'll just have to trust me that I dressed up and followed my own challenge!  Day 8- Polka Dots- I wrote about this in my Sunday Style post that I don't wear polka dots that often. Hi everyone! I have to say it is so good to be back writing on the blog! I missed writing and viewing everyone's pictures on Instagram as well. I had a great time in Charlotte working this week and catching up with people I don't get to see that often. Working remotely has its benefits but face time is priceless! Today's Joyful June Style challenge is polka dots. Polka dots are something that I don't wear very often. I don't know why because they are really fun and can be cute. I just don't have a lot of polka dot items for some reason. I found this dress at New York and Company a while back. It's part of the Eva Mendes collection from the spring. I love her dresses in her collection and I have said it before that I would buy every one of them if I could! This particular style of dress is the same as my black dress that I have been able to wear a few different ways. I am already thinking that I will wear this as a skirt another time too and possibly as a jumper. This style is very flattering on all body types. It has more of a fit and flare look while being a little straighter on the bottom. I love the way it nips in the waist. It is sleeveless but looks great with a jacket or cardigan over it.
