Nerdy Chic
I don't know what I was thinking when I came up with today's theme for Outstanding October Stylr- Nerdy Chic. Is there even such a thing? I mean, who decides what is nerdy and what is chic? What if something I like you consider nerdy and I consider chic?
Enough of this nonsense- I decided to look more "nerdy" but what I actually call "smart" wearing glasses today. I wore a blinded out sweater over a polka dot long sleeve oxford. Here comes the fun part! I am actually showing you two different ways to wear this!
I love to get more mileage out of my clothes and be able to mix and match things. I used to think that I could only wear certain items for certain occasions. Now I am able to play around more with my clothes and wear them different ways and create different looks.
The first look is what I wore to work. I took the top pieces and paired them with a navy blue pleated skirt and belted it with a leopard belt. I wore my nude bow pumps to finish it off. This might not even qualify as "nerdy chic" but maybe more of a classic look and certainly work-appropriate.
Oxford-Joe Fresh (last year)
Sweater- J Crew Factory (last year)
Skirt- J Crew (spring this year)
Bow pumps- DSW (recent)
The second look is taking these same two top pieces and turning them into something that I can wear for play. Now that the work day is over, I can change into jeans and pair this with some booties and throw a vest on over it for an additional layer.
Vest- Land's End (last year)
Jeans- Eloquii (recent)
Booties- Charming Charlie (last year)
I think this second look is both fun and functional and I love the idea of making your clothes go farther! Don't be afraid to throw a shirt on under a short sleeve sweater or tee to get some extra warmth and some extra use out of your summer clothing. You can add an extra layer like a blazer or a vest when the temps get even cooler.
Saving money and making your clothes go farther for you!? Now that's nerdy chic!
Hope you're all having a great week! I sure am looking forward to the weekend!

You are too cute. I love stretching my clothes out. That I actually don't buy that many clothes now of days.
