Jumpin’ July Style: Days 9-16

Image
We are halfway through July and the summer is in full swing! I don’t know about you guys but I am getting ready to take off a week at the end of the month and relax and enjoy our wonderful Michigan summer! We had a bit of a cold snap earlier this week when the Polar Vortex chose to rear its ugly head again and make us all wear our warm clothing for a couple of days! I saw a lot of fun and cozy looks and, let me tell you, it does not make me ready for the fall at all! Well, let’s get down to business and recap the days, shall we? Day 9- Blues Brothers (and Sisters) - For this day, I chose to be kind of basic with my blues and wear some boyfriend jeans with a fun tropic tee shirt. This was a comfy outfit and I especially liked the pop of yellow in my loafers! I chose @mckissa to feature for this day because I loved all of the blue and her dress is just gorgeous!  Day 10- Roses are Red- I chose to wear a red bow top from Banana Republic that I had gotten on maj...

2014 Closet Remix Challenge: May and June Recap

Image
May and June came and went so quickly.   Looking back it is hard to write about these months because they flew by. I keep telling myself to live in the present so that I won’t look back and say this but every time I sit down and think about it, time just hasn’t stood still. May was a very busy month for me at work. I had so many tasks that were due and I was still learning a few things since switching roles earlier this year. That meant not a lot of time for shopping! I also had some bills like paying for camps for my son, etc. that helped me to not do a lot of shopping so I could financially keep on track. I was able to purchase a new bag with some gift cards and Poshmark money and I did a couple of returns and exchanges. I was able to spend a total of $60 for the month using gift cards and coupons. I stayed away from the mall and Target mainly and did a great job of not over-stimulating the economy! I felt like after April where I didn’t keep track as much that I needed t...

Sunday Style: Getting the Max Out of Your Maxi

Image
Today's Sunday Style is about getting more out of your clothing. I used to wear something only one way and then have to wait for a different season or event or whatever to wear it again. Coincidentally, today's Jumpin' July Style challenge was a maxi so naturally I thought I would give some tips on styling a maxi different ways.  While today was hot and sunny here in Michigan, it isn't going to be the case later this week. One day they are calling for a high of only 70 degrees. It got me thinking that I need to look into wearing some of my summer clothing into fall if it's going to be like this!  I'm starting with a maxi that I purchased from Loft earlier in the spring. I loved it because of the color and pattern but also the style of the dress. Just like any other type of dress, I like a maxi to also have some of the same characteristics that I love in a good dress. While I don't think most maxis are made with pockets (bummer!), I still like one tha...

Jumpin' July Style: Days 1-8

Image
July is off to a great start! I'm already loving the looks that so many people have put together for this month's style challenge!  Day 1- Inspired by Mad Men- I didn't watch much of the show, but I love the clothing from this era! The dresses, the skirts, the tops, etc. but I love it all! I chose a peplum and a pencil skirt for this day and of course some pearls and a cute bag.  I chose to feature @sassymotherhood for this day because I loved everything about her look! She definitely looks like she stepped right out of the show!  Day 2- Mix It Up- I figured people could take this a couple of different ways. Mix your clothes like never before or maybe some pattern mixing? I think I did a little of both for my outfit on this day. I love these cute bee shorts from Land's End even though I am not much of a shorts person. I thought they were fun and I paired a striped shirt with them for even more mixing!  I chose @silvrgurl to feature for ...

Influenster Spring Fling VoxBox

Image
Have you ever heard of Influenster? If not, let me tell you about it! It's such a great way to try out products and review them for free! Companies rely on us as consumers to give them feedback about their products. Influenster packages them up and sends them to people like me (and you!) who then test them and share the feedback on the products that they tried.  So let me share what was in the most recent box that I received. Here's a picture of the entire box: Let me start with the Rimmel London Eyes Retro Glam mascara that I received. It provides full lashes and no clumping!  Next up is the Kiss Everlasting French Nails. This gives you a great French manicure and allows you to feel as if you just went to the salon and got your nails done! These are great because you can make them any length and you can find them in most drugstores and major retailers!  Next is the Playtex Sport Fresh Balance tampons (with Odor Shield technology) made sp...
