Free Bird


If you’ve been following along with me for long, you’ve seen me say that as far as fashion is concerned, “It doesn’t have to match, it just has to go”. That’s how I feel about today’s outfit. I am sure it’s not too matchy-matchy but I’m not mad about it either!

Today’s Jumpin’ July Style challenge is Free Bird so naturally I thought I would wear something with birds on it. Problem: I have two items with birds-wait, make that three- two are scarves and one is this tee shirt. I am not going to wear a scarf on one of the hottest days this year! (Currently it’s 90 degrees!).

So, a tee shirt it is. I decided to wear this fun striped skirt because it is one of my favorites. I bought this at Anthropologie a couple of years ago when I finished up a project at work. I saw it in the store while out in CA and I loved it but wasn’t ready to spend the money and pay full price. I kept an eye on it online and it went on sale, so I made it mine! I love navy-it’s such a great neutral- and the fact that it’s striped with quaint pockets on the front, makes it that much more fun and interesting to me.

A tee and a skirt in the summer seems to be my go-to outfit this year. I love it because I can wear plain or graphic tees and a skirt and stay cool while looking put together. I decided to put these Old Navy green t-strap shoes with the ensemble because who doesn’t love a fun shoe and a little height? It gives the outfit the extra ummph that it needs and it lengthens my legs.

Add a few accessories and the outfit is done! This outfit came together pretty quickly and I love it because when the day is done, a pair of shorts paired with the tee is easy for dinner out or just hanging out with the family.

Travel Tuesday: Sugar’s Inn Galveston

It’s a special edition of Travel Tuesday on a Thursday!   Ya’ll  need to get on board with going to Galveston! If you’re in the DFW area and you want to get to the beach, you can head south a few hours and get to Galveston easily! This was my second time visiting but I have a feeling I’ll be going back a little more often! I don’t have a ton of recommendations for you yet based on one weekend but the more I go, the more I’ll have!  First things first, where to stay?! There’s a new cute little boutique hotel in town named  Sugar‘s Inn  and I’m obsessed with the cuteness! It’s upstairs of one of Galveston’s finest restaurants  Sugar and Rye . Spoiler alert: I’ll be doing a giveaway with them over on Instagram too! Nothing better than a couple of nights away! Sunday Style: JJ’s House

It’s been said in various ways that clothes don’t make the person, the person makes the clothes. I believe this to be exceptionally true in this beautiful dress that I am wearing in today’s post! This dress literally made me wish that I was heading out to the opera or a benefit dinner. I love that I get to wear and model a lot of clothes and some just feel more special than others. This dress was custom made for me so I got all the feels while I was zipping it up and looking in the mirror. It fits like a glove and I could not be more in love with it!  Let’s talk about  JJ’s House  for a minute. They have all sorts of dresses for special occasions, including bridal wear! I picked out a dress and did my measurements and sent them in with my order.
