Bold Pattern Mixing

Image
I love pattern mixing! If you have been following me for any length of time, you already know this. It is so simple and adds so much interest to your outfit! Start with the same color or color family and then match a pattern (or two!). Probably one of my most favorite and easiest combos is stripes and florals. Add a striped top to a floral skirt and you are done! But enough about that...today's pattern mixing is a bold floral print and windowpane heels. I am loving this floral faux wrap  dress from Avenue ! It is so easy to throw on and mix and match accessories and footwear. I chose this dress with these heels to wear to work today. You need some fabulousness walking into a Monday! Thanks for reading and following along with me! Hope you had a wonderful Monday! Sandae P. S. Check out the pics of this dress!

Talbots Trunk Show

Image
What else is more fun on a cloudy Friday afternoon than a visit with some of my favorite people at Talbots and seeing some new fashions? The atmosphere was alive and buzzing with excitement when I got to the store. It's always fun to see people that I enjoy working with and meeting new ones too! One of the things I love most about Talbots is that they treat all of their customers with care and respect. You can tell they all truly love what they do.  The brand is classic with their styles and fabrics yet on trend with updated patterns and accessories. I loved taking a look around the store before and after the show to see and feel all of the items in the new line. Three of the stores in the area combined forces along with a Regional Sales Manager to make this fashion show happen. I loved that they used their customers to model the fashions too! I walked away with a few things including this look from today: Sweater and skirt- Talbots (recent) Boots- Avenue (recent online)...

Sunday Style: Spring Fling

Image
Who else is ready for Spring besides me? The snow has melted (finally!) and the birds are chirping in the mornings. Time change has come and gone and let's be honest, it was a pain and it threw me off that whole week, but it means that Spring is here and that means warmer weather for us!  For today's Sunday Style post, I thought it would be fun to have a fling with spring. Brighter colors and florals and some pattern mixing is a sure way of cheering all of us up and getting us ready for the rain showers, flowers blooming and grass turning green.  Here are a few pics from today's Sunday Style look: Tee- J Crew (recent) Skirt- Mindy Maes Market (online) Heels- Loft (last year) Clutch- Express (last year) Bangles- Jet Chic Arm Candy (online) Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend!  Sandae

Diary of a Mad Plaid Woman

Image
See what I did with the title there? I love plaid! I mean, who doesn't? Well I am sure there are people out there who don't.  I used to associate plaid with grunge- you know, Seattle and Kurt Cobain? Or a lumberjack? Or multiple other professionals who wear plaid when they are working? You get the picture- someone not like me unless if maybe it was a plaid skirt of some sort.  I think it's great that plaid has come back around the last couple of years. It's fun to wear one plaid, so why not wear more than one? No, I am not saying to look like the crazy lady walking on the side of the street with her cart and mixing every print possible, but I am saying to go out of your comfort zone a bit and mix it up!  Today's outfit was inspired by a couple of Instagram challenges. One was to wear multiple plaids and one was to wear polka dots. Why choose between the two?  I decided to double up on the plaid by wearing a gingham shirt and a plaid scarf. The weather is...

Sunday Style: Skirting the Issue

Image
Today's Outstanding October Style challenge is all about skirts. I love a good skirt- one that is the perfect length, has pockets, fits and flares, etc. Skirts have so many possibilities! Long or short, straight or full, you get the picture.  I saw this skirt from Eva Mendes collection from New York and Company and was smitten. It is the perfect floral for fall and winter and looks great dressed up or down.  I am wearing this skirt today with a striped tee and a black faux leather jacket over it with these great shoeties. I also imagine this with a turtleneck and black long boots. Or maybe a cardigan and some flats. There really are a lot of options for it!  Here's some pictures from today's look: Skirt- New York and Company (recent) Faux leather jacket- Old Navy (recent) Striped tee- Gap (old)  Shoeties- DSW (recent)  Pearls- J Crew (old) Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend! The weather here has been absolutely gor...

Sunday Style: Sassy In Stripes

Image
Today's look was something I thought of only this morning when I wanted to wear something with stripes. I love this skirt and decided I needed to wear it again today before it gets too cold.  I love pattern mixing and I actually wore this sweatshirt and plaid shirt together last year. In fact, I wore it with jeans and my herringbone vest over top. I thought today I would dress it up and wear it with a skirt and heels.  I like the way it turned out! Sometimes the best outfits are the ones I don't fret over and come up with last minute.  Here's some pictures from today's look:  Plaid shirt- J Crew Factory (last year) Striped sweatshirt- Target (last year) Skirt- Eloquii (summer)  Leopard heels- Target (last year)  Hope you're having a great Sunday!  Sandae

Sunday Style: Altuzarra and Some Pixies

Image
I am in love with this sweatshirt!  I am so glad that I decided to get this one. The white is not as vibrant in person as it was in all of the marketing but I love it nonetheless. I decided to go with the bow shirt as well since I thought it would be a good basic for my closet. I love the versatility of a good sweatshirt. I think it's great that styles come back around. I'm sitting here writing this post as I am watching The Golden Girls and Rose is rocking a great sweatshirt with a pair of jeans. Hers is plain and boring as are her jeans, but you get the picture...oh and she's also probably in her fifties here so I guess I shouldn't necessarily use her as an example... Anyways, I decided to pair the sweatshirt with a pair of patterned pants. I have a couple of ideas of ways that I will wear this but I liked this for today. These pixie pants from Old Navy are amazing! I picked these up on sale and already have a few outfits in mind for them as well. I admit the ...

Sunday Style: Inspired by In Style

Image
I am a little behind on my reading of magazines lately, I will admit. I had the huge March issue of In Style magazine sitting here forever and I just got around to reading it yesterday. I enjoy the fashions and seeing what's trending and getting new ideas for my outfits.  I was reading an article and one of the items they were showing two different ways was a blue and white striped dress. I did buy a blue and white striped dress a few weeks ago that I have been itching to wear but haven't due to the snow and colder temps.  I decided today's the day. I'm tired of waiting for warmer temps- I'm just going to do it! Maybe dressing like Spring will help it to get here sooner?  I found this dress at Gap in my size on clearance and it was the only one there. I had been looking at it forever online and then it was sold out by the time I was ready to buy anything. I thought it might be meant to be for me to buy it. It's fate.  This dress has such a great silhouette and ...
