Sunday Style: Belldini

Image
One of my favorite things about having a blog is being asked to try new brands or collaborating with new companies or vendors. I want to introduce you all to a brand that I just learned about, Belldini .  I was asked to review a few items from their collection and I can tell you that they are awesome! I reviewed the website and looked at the items with my lifestyle in mind. I now live in a warmer (hotter) climate and I work full time but the dress code is fairly casual. I have a child that I do things with but I also love going out after work to happy hour or out to movies and shopping, eating, etc. I decided to choose three pieces that I can wear multiple ways. The first item is this mint green sleeveless sweater that is studded with multicolor metallic studs. It has a handkerchief hem and is longer so it will go great with jeans or even a pencil skirt. I think the mint is such a fresh color for spring and I love the multicolor metallic studs because your accessories the...

Sunday Style: Terrific in Teal

Image
Spring is coming!  It's hard being in Texas and seeing the seasons change- mainly because it's been about the same since I got here in November. It's cold for a day or two and then the temps warm up. Yesterday it was 80 degrees! Spring will be here soon and one of the great things is new prints from karinadresses . I've got the Carolyn  on in the Teal Fans design. The shape of this dress is terrific for every body type and the colors are fantastic! You can easily dress this one up or down.  I chose a nude heel and a floral clutch for some added fun. By the way, speaking of fun, the outtakes are hilarious as my heel kept getting caught in the boards of this bridge! Who says fashion can't be fun? And check out that amazing full moon in the first couple of pics! Beautiful!  Here are some pics of this terrific teal dress:  Dress: karinadresses (shop upper right in blog) Heels: Payless (last year) Clutch: Francesca's (last year...

Sunday Style: Strapless and Stripes

Image
Has anyone ever told you that you shouldn't wear something? Like maybe not a certain article of clothing even but maybe a style? Big girls shouldn't wear stripes. Big girls shouldn't wear strapless. Big girls shouldn't wear... The list goes on and on.  Why shouldn't you wear what you love? Why can't you wear what you want? I'm of the school of thought that it it fits properly, it will look great. Two people could have completely different body types and still wear the same item as long as it fits properly. If it's hanging off your body so loosely, it looks just as bad as if it's too tight. It's the fit that counts. I wish more people realized this!  I have big arms. I'm still going to wear strapless. You know why? Because I love the way it looks and feels. Get a good strapless bra and you're good to go.  I'm wide and I have big hips. I also love stripes. Get over it. I'm not tiny but that doesn't stop me from wearing a pattern...

Sunday Style: Fuchsia

Image
It's been a little while since I have posted a Sunday Style post on the blog! I've been busy with life and just haven't been able to get to it. I hope this changes and I'm able to post much more! I've been talking colors on the blog in a few of my Sunday Style posts and I thought today I'd do another one and talk about one of my favorite colors, fuchsia.  Fuchsia is a variation of pink. When you mix other colors with pink, light or warm, they create new versions of the color. Fuchsia is a deep pink mixed with blue. I'm drawn to brighter colors but I love the meaning behind this one. Fuchsia is all about inspiring confidence and assurance and maturity, a more responsible and controlled nurturing and love. You are confident and not afraid to take action. Remember that the journey is often more important than the outcome.  I cannot love this any more. In my life, sometimes confidence is lacking. I'm going to start wearing brighter colors more oft...

Spring 2015 Trend: The White Shirt

Image
Today's post is exciting because I am collaborating with three other ladies and talking about a fun Spring trend- the white shirt. I've teamed up with Janeane from Designing From My Close t, Amy from Full Figured and Fashionable  and Nina from  Curvy Mod . The white shirt is basic but combined with other articles of clothing and accessories, it's anything but basic! I love the way that all of us took this one wardrobe staple and made it into a totally different look!   Janeane wore hers with some cropped pants and lace up sandals and a clutch. Her look is comfortable and casual yet easily a dressed up look for day or night.  Amy wore hers with a cardigan and skirt. This is another look that could be worn for work or play. I love the coral and the pop of green in the necklace!  Nina's look is super cute with the bow tie and the patterned pants. Her look is another great example of how a white shirt doesn't necessarily mean business- it'...

Sunday Style: Orange

Image
I recently lost a friend- she didn't die but I lost her to the city of Minneapolis. Her husband got transferred there for work. Now, I am happy for him but I am still mourning the loss of seeing my friend regularly. She won't be there in book club and we can't go to the movies anymore. No more small group either. No more late night runs to Menchies for fro-yo and girl talk. I decided to dedicate this post to her. To my friend who loves orange. We bought these shirts together and she was always jealous of my shoes. I looked everywhere for a pair for her but was unsuccessful. She does have a pair of orange Toms so I guess she isn't totally without.... Orange is such a fun color. Orange is a stimulus color or a color that makes you stop and look. I always think it brightens my day. Orange is a bright tone in the summer and a muted tone in the fall. Orange symbolizes new beginnings like flowers blooming in the spring and the turning of the leaves in the autumn. It...

Sunday Style: Skirting the Issue with a Side of Pineapple

Image
Weird title for my Sunday Style post today, right? Let me explain. Today starts the beginning of the Joyful June Style Challenge and the theme is Skirting the Issue. Naturally I'm wearing a skirt today but a couple of my friends on Instagram also decided that since pineapples are the new thing and that June 1 should be Pineapple Shirt Day. I know, I know it is funny that I would let Instagram dictate what I should be wearing; however, I really didn't have an outfit picked out prior to seeing that we should wear pineapples so I decided why not?  I actually bought this tee shirt from Loft Outlet back in April and wore it before with a cardigan and jeans. I love remixing my clothes to make them go farther so why not wear it with a skirt and create a new look?  I'm pairing it with this navy blue pleated skirt from J Crew that I got a while back. I didn't have a navy skirt in my closet other than my sailor skirt so I thought it would be a good investment. I'm wea...
