WhatUp Wednesday #11

Image
As I sit here writing this, another hurricane is at it again! This time Irma who is hitting the islands and Florida. We have so much to be thankful for here in our warm (or cool) homes with food and water and everything we need. Last week North Texas had a gas issue with everyone and their brother getting gas on Thursday causing a shortage and numerous stations to have no gas even throughout the holiday weekend. Thankfully, I was able to get some in my tank before the crazy madness began so I was unaffected; although I did stay home most of the holiday weekend and conserved the gas that I had. There hasn’t been a ton of things happening this week. I have been super busy at work (which makes me happy!) and just focusing on that and my son who started school last week. He also started football and is very hesitant but I am confident he will pick it up and enjoy it. Though he’s mad at me now for putting him in it, I hope I have done the right thing and he will thank me later! Toda...

Sunday Style: Spring Trends

Image
Today's post is a two-for post- two outfits and packed with trends for Spring! I was asked by the resale company thredUp  to talk about a Wardrobe Cheat Sheet and share some of my picks for Spring.  Have you heard of thredUp? It's a company that takes your unused clothing that is in good condition and lists it on a site and then sells it for you. They send you a bag and you send it in and watch the credits come rolling in from your sales. So easy!  I live in Michigan where there are four seasons and winter particularly is difficult for me. The cold weather and snow are miserable and I live for seeing the spring each year!  I decided to show two looks that I think are perfect for spring! The first is this bright coral dress that I paired with some floral pumps. This whole look was from thredUp! I love the value of what I get for my money. These pumps were practically new and the dress was a little more "gently used" but they noticed this before it was se...

Sunday Style: On the Go

Image
All of these clothes are old- nothing new to write about but thought I'd talk about being on the go and looking good while doing it. Disclaimer: I also don't think that I have to write about new items all of the time. One of the things I enjoy about having a blog is showing people different ways to wear what they already have.  Take this plaid shirt, for example. I have had it for a couple of years and I have worn it a lot. I love that it is a great layering piece and matches a lot of things that I have in my closet. A regular navy sweater over it shows the button up details and collar. Nothing fancy, I added white jeans to this ensemble to make them stick out and show you all how white jeans are not just for spring and summer. I happen to love this look that I've got on today!  I added boots and a gold bib necklace and I've got a tote bag for all of my stuff that I have to carry around. I have books to return to the library and my iPad and all of my regular items...

Sunday Style: Fantastic Floral

Image
It's another great dress from karina dresses  this week! I don't have a lot of floral dresses that I can wear into the fall and winter. Most of them are short sleeve or sleeveless and are brighter colors. When I saw this pattern, I knew it would be perfect to wear during the colder months when I usually stick with darker colors. I am wearing the  Maggie   (pink and navy florette) which is perfect for my body shape. It shows off my waist and it has a tie as well. The v-neck is great for elongating the body and the skirt is fuller and lands at the knee which is a good length for me. Because this dress has an all-over pattern, I decided to minimize my accessories and chose to not wear a necklace. I am wearing a fun vintage-y looking pump that has open toes that I think go well with this style of dress. Here are a few pictures of me in this beautiful floral dress: Dress- karina dresses (recent online) Bracelet- J Crew Factory (old) Shoes- DSW (old) You can shop...

Pleather Perfection

Image
Okay okay- first of all, pleather? Really? Well, I am not about to go out and pay good money for some leather pants. Pleather is perfectly fine with me. Seriously. Secondly, you will never guess where I bought these pleather pants! (Read through to the end and I might tell you there...) I thought this was a great outfit for going out to dinner with the family on Christmas Eve. We had a table for seven and the best food and conversation that I've had in a while. (Friends-don't get mad about it, I love you all too...). I am thinking of some additional ways to wear these pants but for this night, I went basic with a gray turtleneck sweater, black patent heels and a leopard clutch. This was one of the easiest outfits to put together-seriously took no time at all and I felt like a million bucks. Here are a few pictures of this outfit: So, what do you all think? Surprise, surprise but these are actually coated jeggings from WalMart! Eek! If you know me, you know I am typical...

December 2014 Week Three Recap

Image
December proved to be a challenging month as always. I got sick during all of the holiday hustle and bustle but still managed to somehow push through it. There were too many fun activities to do last week and I couldn't let it get me down! I don't have as many outfits to share but given the fact I was so sick, I'm glad I was up to posting to any!  Here we go!  Monday- no outfit post!  Tuesday- I had this post ready to go for this day featuring this beautiful dress from Dainty Jewell's so it was perfect timing! This dress is so beautiful! From the pattern to the shape, it is truly gorgeous!  Dress- Dainty Jewell's (recent- online) Belt- Target (last year) Shoes- DSW (summer) Pearl necklace- JCrew Factory (last year) I also hosted my annual Ugly Christmas Cookie Party on Tuesday so I used a sweatshirt that was my mom's and glammed it up a bit with a gold sequin skirt- not my best look, but it worked. I'm still looking fo...
