Sunday Style: Ruffles and Stripes

Image
I bought this top, skirt and shoes months ago. I loved it when the new Atlantic Pacific x Halogen came out at Nordstrom. The pink and green colors just spoke to me in this one since they were so bright and colorful- like me!  The ruffles on this top and skirt are so fun! I love the v-neck on the top and the fact that it’s belted helps to accentuate the waist. The skirt is also ruffled with a waistline (that you can’t see when wearing the top) but could be paired with another top and tucked in for visibility.  Let’s talk about the shoes! I wasn’t sure if I would like these since they are more of a flat form type tennis shoe but I do love them! They match this outfit beautifully as well as the other dress that I got from this collection.  I’m only sorry that I didn’t show it off sooner! I guess I was just waiting for the right time?!  Enjoy these pics that my friend Meredith took of me early in the morning so we could escape the heat!  I added a pair of simple pin...

New Atlantic Pacific Collection Try-Ons

Image
I have been following along for the past year or so all of the Atlantic Pacific by Halogen collections. If you’re not familiar with these, let me introduce you.  The fabulous  Blair Eadie  has been collaborating with  Nordstrom  on these collections and everything is just so exquisitely done! There are items I would wear and items I wouldn’t wear- just like every fashion designer has!  I have always loved the buttons and ruffles and tulle and just everything that these items are. They are feminine and fun! This time the  collection  was launched at 30% off right at the start. It made it much easier to afford some of the pieces and I bought a few and tried them on over on Instagram.  I didn’t want you to miss out if you didn’t catch my stories so I did take a still shot of each look and I will link the pieces here in the blog for you.  The first look is this  fun floral shirt dress .  I love the whimsical print and I love the wh...

Sunday Style: Pretty in Pink

Image
Another week has come and gone and here we are on Sunday night again!  I usually write at night on Sunday after I’ve spent the day doing things that I either enjoy or need to know or both!  Today I went and had a fabulous brunch with a friend and enjoyed the warmer weather! It’s such a treat since it’s February! It has been raining and windy and cold here most recently so it’s definitely welcome. If only it would stick around for a while! Who knows it might?! The weather is so finicky and changes every day around here.  So for today’s outfit, I must admit I feel like a little Victorian or maybe I belong on Downton Abby?! I must thank my friend Rynetta for tracking down this amazing blouse for me! I wanted this forever and couldn’t find it. Thankfully, she did! I paired it with this Lularoe Jill skirt that I got back in 2017 as part of their Elegant collection. I call it the feather skirt but some call it eyelash. Either way, it’s amazing! Some of you might have seen that ...

Sunday Style: Yellow

Image
I have decided that I'm not quite ready for fall just yet. The temps here are still warm but I do see a few leaves changing colors outside. I'm continuing my color series with a color that is bright and cheerful and I'm wearing a dress for summer still. Why not take advantage of the gorgeous temps that we're having?  Yellow is the color between green and orange in the spectrum of visible light.  It's the color of ripe lemons, sunflowers and gold. I associate yellow with brightness and happiness, yet according to Wikipedia, if you're in the US and Canada, you associate it with amusement, gentleness and spontaneity but also with duplicity, envy, jealousy and in the US, cowardice.  Eww I'm not a coward I thought as I read that. I'm bright and somewhat outgoing and cheerful. Yellow makes me shine and brightens my day when I see others wearing a bright yellow color!  Hmm well in Asia, it's seen as the color of happiness, glory, wisdom, harmony...

Sunday Style: Live Colorfully

Image
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. One of the reasons is the colors that you start to see. Oh sure, it's raining outside right now as I write this, but I see that warmer temps and sunny days are heading our way this week.  The grass turns green, the birds are out and chirping, the flowers start to bud. I bought myself a bouquet of flowers this week- treat yourself! In the world of fashion, or maybe just in my world of fashion, more colors start to appear in the form of shoes and bags and accessories. Bright colors and flowers and other patterns make their way on to my clothing. It's spring!  Live colorfully! Rejoice in the new season and time of refreshing and rebirth. He makes all things new again. Take a minute to stop and smell the roses (or any other flower for that matter) and enjoy the awakening of the earth in this season.  For today's look, I chose a plain green dress but paired it with bright coral pumps. I added a colorful clutch and som...
