WhatUp Wednesday #11

Image
As I sit here writing this, another hurricane is at it again! This time Irma who is hitting the islands and Florida. We have so much to be thankful for here in our warm (or cool) homes with food and water and everything we need. Last week North Texas had a gas issue with everyone and their brother getting gas on Thursday causing a shortage and numerous stations to have no gas even throughout the holiday weekend. Thankfully, I was able to get some in my tank before the crazy madness began so I was unaffected; although I did stay home most of the holiday weekend and conserved the gas that I had. There hasn’t been a ton of things happening this week. I have been super busy at work (which makes me happy!) and just focusing on that and my son who started school last week. He also started football and is very hesitant but I am confident he will pick it up and enjoy it. Though he’s mad at me now for putting him in it, I hope I have done the right thing and he will thank me later! Toda...

Sunday Style: A Million Bucks

Image
I wonder what it would be like to have a million bucks. I wonder how quickly that money would be spent. I wonder if I would feel more safe or secure knowing I have a million bucks? I wonder if I would get treated differently if people knew I was a millionaire. Random thoughts that go through my head when people say "you look like a million bucks" or "I feel like a million bucks". Whenever I put on a karinadresses dress, I always feel like I am special - like this dress was designed just for me- or maybe like a million bucks?! It doesn't matter which style or color I wear, I can't help but feel pretty. The fabric is lightweight and easily packable and it doesn't wrinkle so it's great for traveling or sitting in meetings. I find I reach for these dresses more than any of the other ones that I own!  This dress is no exception. I was drawn to the color and print, but the Katharine style which shows off my waist, is also one of my favorites! I d...

A Capitol and a Conundrum

Image
A conundrum is defined as a confusing and difficult problem or question. I just finished Making A Murderer on Netflix. I started watching it and I couldn't stop. It was only ten episodes but every episode was equally as thrilling as the one before. I would say this definitely falls within the definition of a conundrum. I won't give everything away in case if you want to see it, but I will tell you about the premise of the documentary. Oh, and I promise this is still a fashion post... Steven Avery was convicted of a crime that he did not commit. He spent eighteen years in jail until he was finally proven innocent and set free in 2003. He then was arrested for another crime that to this day, he says he did not commit. However this time, he is still sitting in jail trying to prove his own innocence. Even sadder perhaps is his nephew who is also sitting in jail after being arrested at the age of 16 for supposedly assisting his uncle in committing this brutal murder. ...

Sunday Style: Southern Style

Image
It happened again. My friend Łynsie met up with me in Charlotte and we used some of our time together to once again take pictures. I love being out of town and finding new and unique spots to take pictures and I am in love with this church that we found!  You know what else I like? A dress like this that enhances my shape, has a great print, and has pockets! But guess what else! I paid $6 for this dress- brand new! Who says that shopping on a budget means buying clothes you don't love?  I happened upon this dress in JCPenney and immediately loved it. It was marked down on clearance for $25 and I had a $10 off coupon. Even for $15 it was a steal! I got up to the register and it rang up as $16 and then I used my $10 off coupon. Wow! I love finding such great bargains!  This dress has it all and I am so glad I found it. It has such southern charm and is perfect for an afternoon tea, a wedding, a baby shower or even wearing to church.  Here are some pictu...

Day to Night

Image
Today’s Style Me April challenge is Day to Night.   I bought this Loft dress at the end of last year on major sale and thought it would be perfect for today’s challenge. I did go into the office today and I actually wore this outfit just like this.   I love the versatility of a dress like this because it really can be dressed up or down.   This dress could also be dressed down even more in the summer time and worn with a cute pair of sandals. It is raining today so I thought I would cover up a bit more using this leopard cardigan and wear some comfy flats and carry a tote. I still wore the black chunky necklace because I was thinking if this was real life and I was meeting my husband or friends after work, I would only have to change up the shoes and the bag and my jewelry would already be on.   I also wore the gold bow belt just because I felt like wearing a belt today. Here are the daytime look pictures: For the night look, I simply took off...

Sunday Style: Cozy

Image
Another cold Sunday in the D. Yesterday it was a little warmer but today we are still in the twenties. Spring has sprung but not officially here in Michigan. Usually I dress up on Sundays but I got a call yesterday that the family wanted to meet up for breakfast. Since we don't see each other that often, I don't like to turn down an invitation to meet and catch up.  I was kind of glad to not have to dress up today since it is so cold and coincidentally, today's Style Me March challenge is titled Cozyness is Happiness.  I picked this outfit today because I think of what could be cozier than a sweatshirt? I love this one from Kohls that I bought last year because it is pretty with all of the embellishments on it. It's large enough to layer (which you all know I love to do) so I decided to be a little springy today with a flowered button up from JCrew that I got last summer. It's perfect for layering like this or wearing on its own.  I'm so cozy wearing...

Style Me March: Days 11-20

Image
It's hard to believe we are almost nearing the end of the month already! We finally passed the beginning of spring so hopefully these temps will start to rise soon!  If you've been following along, you know I've been participating in a style challenge on Instagram. It's a list of a theme or a suggestion for each day during the month. It's fun to see what other people come up with too!  Here's the list of days and what outfits I wore:  Day 11- A Little Bit O Sparkle- I chose a look that I blogged about earlier also wearing my sailor skirt and this gorgeous JCrew linen tee. I love to show multiple ways to wear a look and this one is no different. This day was supposed to be about the sparkle so I chose one of my favorite statement necklaces to add some sparkle to this outfit.  Day 12- Sweet Pinks and Peaches and Day 13- So "My City"- I combined two days challenges on this one. It was a snow day for my son and I was incredibly busy at work so I decided to...
