WhatUp Wednesday #26

Image
Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday! Well we are halfway through this week and today’s the last day of February already! I can’t believe how fast this month flew by compared to January that felt like it had 105 days in it!  This last week was interesting to say the least. I didn’t post on Wednesday last week- I did a day late on Thursday since I didn’t have enough time on Wednesday. But I did want to share a story about kindness that happened to me on that day. Amongst all of the sadness and bad things that are happening in the world, one thing did make me believe a little more in the kindness of humans- in this case, kindness of strangers.  It goes like this. It was cold and rainy all last week here in Texas. The temps were in the 30’s and if it were Michigan, it would have been snow. I digress. My sensor for my tires goes off in my car. It shows the passenger front tire is low- like extremely low. However, glancing at it would not show this. I decided I would go to the gas station...

Forty Before Forty: The End of Summer

Image
Well, the unofficial End of Summer is upon us. I think a lot of us have mixed feelings. For me, I know I was happy to see my son go back to school today because he was excited to see everyone and see who was in his class. He grew a lot over the summer, physically and mentally, and I think he is excited to see what this year has in store for him. It helps that he was excited to go too and not dreading it like some kids! There is also some sadness that summer is over. I am not sitting here boo-hooing or anything like that, but given the horrible cold and snowy winter that we had, I am just not ready for the sunshine and warm temps to end! This last week was our last summer camping trip of the year. We have a couple of great families that we enjoying camping with and this last week was no exception. We chose to camp at a spot that we love called Cranhill Ranch in Rodney, MI. It is a Christian campground and we love that we also get to worship in the woods on Sunday morning. Th...

Forty Before Forty: Archery

Image
A couple of weeks ago I tried one of my other items on my list- archery. I'm telling you that if you have never used sites like Groupon or Living Social, you should! It gives you the opportunity to try things, like this, at a cheaper price. I bought this archery Groupon and it was good for two people for the equipment and the range at a great price. Anyways, my friend also wanted to try archery so she and I headed out to the indoor range on a Thursday night for some fun. Yes, I did not dress for archery and yes, I was the only one in glitter at the range. I just wanted to wear what I already had on earlier in the day!  We got there and showed our licenses and then signed all the paperwork. The man took us over to the range and asked us if we had ever shot a bow before. Of course, judging by my outfit, I am sure he thought there's no way they've ever been to a place like this before! He gave us a bow and a can of arrows. He told us how to load the arrow into the ...

Black Friday or is it Black Thursday?

Image
Well, this year, I became one of those people. Two friends and I set out to start our Christmas shopping on Thanksgiving night. We met at one house at 7:30 pm to get to Target. My one friend was looking for a good deal on a television and Target had one. It was a 50" television for a great price. We got to Target and the parking lot was already full and the line was long outside the building. We packed our coats and gloves and patience and waited in line till they opened.  I think out of all of the stores we visited, Target was by far the best and most organized. They had employees walking the line and letting us know the 50" television was gone(they passed out tickets to the first people in line) and handed out store maps and Cliff and Luna bars. They were all polite and helpful answering questions and making us happy. Once it was 8:00, they opened the door and it was single file line into the store. There were barricades up so no one could cut in line and there was only one...
