Sunday Style: Floral Flounce

Image
Put some pep in your step and some bounce in your flounce....well, I don't know about that last part but this dress definitely puts some pep in your step! This hi-lo flounce dress gives the illusion of my favorite fit and flare style when belted. I thought it looked good with a belt and jacket and some fun shoes. I'm thinking I'll even take this with me this week to wear when I'm in Charlotte since I like this so much!  Here are a few pictures of today's look with the hi-lo floral flounce dress: Dress- Eloquii (recent) Jacket- Kohl's (last year) Belt- New York and Company (old) Shoes- Target (last year) Clutch- Express (last year)  I'm loving this fabric from Eloquii recently and the styles and prints just keep getting better and better! I'm looking forward to more fun things from them for spring!  Hope you're all having a great weekend! Thanks for reading and following along with me!  Sandae

March 2015 Book Club Selection

Image
It's here! The next book that is on tap for our book club! Courtney picked this one and I'm excited to read it! I've got a trip out of town next week so I'm looking forward to some quiet time and reading. I just got it in the mail but it is available at some libraries. I purchased it from Target online but I know that Amazon and Barnes and Noble also carry it.  I don't know a lot about this book but I do know a movie was made about it. I have read mixed reviews so I am looking forward to reading it and reviewing it on my own.  Switching gears: did you read last month's book "The Summer Kitchen"? What did you think about it? I thought it was a good book and I loved the volunteer work and the story that went along with it. I also liked that it was told from two points of view. I think that element adds interest to a story when we see it through more than one person's eyes. We all said that we enjoyed the book when we met last week for Boo

Polka Dots and a Cuff Giveaway!

I'm so tired of wearing jeans and sweaters and boots! It's been so cold that I feel like I wear the same outfit everyday but in different colors! Not today though! I decided to change it up and wear one of my favorite dresses but winterize it wearing a jacket, boots and tights. I'm playing along with Pinned It, Spinned It today and I'm loving this combo!  Dress- Eva Mendes for New York and Company (old) Jacket- Banana Republic (last fall) Faux fur and belt- Target (last year) Boots- DSW (old) Notice my cuff bracelet? February 2015 Week Two Recap

Image
I'm getting caught up with my weekly outfit recap posts today instead of posting a new Sunday Style post. I'm also off relaxing at the spa getting a massage and facial... It's been a busy couple of weeks for me at work so I tend to fall behind on the blog when that happens. Because I have more work, I tend to have other things to keep me busy after work as well.  I had a good week of outfits and more importantly, this was the week that I had some nasty words said to me and had some wonderful and kind words spoken to me. I really appreciate all of the love and support that you all have given me!  Here's the outfits for the second week of the month: Sunday, Feb 8-  Such a great dress! I made this a little more fun for Valentine's Day with a clutch and some bangles and a pop of red.  Dress- Eloquii (last year) Shoes- JustFab (online recent) Jacket- Kohl's (last year) Clutch- Poshmark Bangles- Jet Chic Arm Candy (recent online)

February 2015 Week One Recap

Image
It.is.cold. Way too cold to go outside and do anything so I thought I'd play catch up on outfits. You can see by all of the snow in my pictures that it's been cold here lately. I find I am not as creative during the winter since I have to bundle up to go anywhere. It's also hard to get out and get good pictures since the temperatures are so low. I am still getting dressed everyday, I may just not get a picture to document it!  Monday, Feb 2- Snow Day! No outfit post on this day.  Tuesday, Feb 3-  Black and white and mint for back to work on Tuesday! Loving these pixie pants with the faux fur vest! My bag says "It's okay to stare".... Sweater and pants- Old Navy (last year) Faux fur vest- Kohls (old) Boots- Kohl's (old) Clutch- Express (last year) Wednesday, Feb 4- I like big bows and I cannot lie...I wore a blouse with a huge bow. I also loved this combo of cobalt and tomato red!  Blouse- Banana Republic (o

Sunday Style: DIY Outfit Planning

Image
It's so cold out that I decided to forget about a regular Sunday post and share another fun and easy DIY I did today!  Outfit planning! Do you do it? Love it? Hate it? I'll admit that since I work from home, I am a little spoiled and can decide what to wear that morning or even throughout the day. There's no rush unless if I have to be somewhere or if I am going out of town.  I decided though to try outfit planning this week and I am super happy with the results and ready to get this week started!  I looked first at the days of the week and if I had anything special going on. Next, I looked at style challenges on Instagram to see if I wanted to participate at all. I decided I could wear something every day that fit into a challenge. Obstacle one! For me that's the hardest part is looking in the closet and seeing what goes with what or if I can participate.  I went through my closet and found outfits for the week. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was

One Word

Image
What's that one word that people can say to you or can call you that would hurt?  You know, that one word that people say and it hurts you to the core or it reminds you of being hurt in the past or perhaps who you used to be? We've all got that one word. For me, it's always been the word "fat". I think people associate larger people with being lazy or perhaps ignorant or even uneducated. I would say none of these words describe me yet I still find the word "fat" to be the one word that gets to me.  Growing up, I was always bigger than other kids. I've never been a smaller size and I used to wish that I was. I thought people would like me if I were different, smaller or taller, etc. It wasn't until I was in my thirties that I finally started to feel content with who I was and love the shape I have. We are all unique- how boring would it be if we were all the same? I have this conversation with my son a lot and remind him of how we are ea

Sunday Style: Valentine's Style

Image
Are you big into Valentine's Day? I'm not really but I do enjoy the cute little accents like kisses and hearts that are widespread during this timeframe. I decided to use a couple of cute accessories with this striped dress that I bought a while back to make a fun Sunday Style post!  This dress from Eloquii was love at first sight. I showed it to my husband and he said "you should get that". So I did! It thought it would go perfectly with these red bow heels and then decided to do a theme post. That's usually the way my outfits end up to be outfits is that I think about one thing and it leads to another and so on and so on.  Anyways, it's a little chilly here still to wear sleeveless which is what this dress is, so I put a black moto jacket over it for some extra warmth. The sun was out yesterday when I took these pictures so I also look like I'm squinting in all of the pics... This dress is great as a dress but I am also thinking I will wear a
