Sunday Style: Getting Noticed On Your Own Time

Image
Wearing a watch is not something a lot of people do in this day and age. Everyone has a phone and has their nose in it 24/7 and they can get the time from it as  as everything else . No one has a lot of time- everyone is busy running around and getting things done.  I personally love wearing watches. To me it is an extension of accessorizing an outfit. It's another way to show your personal style. When people ask me "do you have the time?", they will often ask me where I got my watch and will compliment me on the uniqueness of the watch as well. Most people haven't seen wood watches before and ask me a lot of questions about them.  This  Jord  watch is no exception!  In today's post, I'm wearing the  Cora  watch which is a little smaller than I normally wear but I love it! I love the daintiness of the watch and the color is stunning! The mother of pearl really is so beautiful and the dark wood compliments it perfectly.  Becau...

Sunday Style: Transition

Image
We're in the middle of fall and the weather is forever changing. One of the things I love the most about this season is the brisk temps in the morning and the warmer sun in the afternoon. It is getting darker earlier (which I hate since it cuts into my walking time at night) and lighter later in the mornings.  Transition has to happen in all areas of life- including fashion! I love taking my clothes from season to season by changing them up a bit. I can add or take off a layer depending on the temps. I decided to try a new look with this beautiful midi skirt that I wore earlier in the year a couple of other ways.  Turtlenecks seem to be more popular this year and despite my hatred for them in the past (that admission is for you, Rebekah!), I decided to give them another try. This light gray one is perfect to wear with jeans but I also happened to love it with this skirt! I added some dark pumps and my favorite leopard clutch. I think I successfully transitioned this in...

Window Pane

Image
I'm always reminded of the Eminem song where the lyrics talk about window pane (or in his case, window pain) when I wear this skirt. In case if you forgot, here they are...        "...Now you get to watch her leave out the window, guess that's why they call it window pane..." I bought this skirt earlier this year and wore it once before. I decided to document this outfit in a blog post since it's not that often I have multiple pictures to show off! That being said, I added a jacket and some fun booties this time around and I'm thrilled with the results!  Both the skirt and jacket are made of scuba material so they are comfortable as well as fashionable. The tee shirt is cotton and the booties, well, they're comfortable enough but I always suffer for fashion! I made sure to add some of my trusty Sole Serum  that I love so I could walk around in these bad boys all day and no suffering was necessary!  Here's the look from today:  ...

May 2015 Favorites

It's been a while, friends! Thanks to those who have stuck around and waited for me to post again! It's been a busy few weeks and I was even able to squeeze a fun-filled vacation in as well! I thought I'd start back by showing my favorite outfits for the month of May!  I wore this outfit out with a friend to dinner and to see the play "Hairspray". The bow in the back is what really got me!  Top- New York and Company (recent) Jeans- Target (recent) Shoes- Target (recent) Clutch- Banana Republic (old) This outfit was a Sunday Style feature and I wore it to church and a concert to see my friend sing.  Top- J Crew (last year) Skirt- Mindy Mae's Market (online) Shoes- DSW (old) This next outfit is an oldie but goodie! Sunday Style: Hi-Lo Color!

Image
This weekend has been beautiful! I thought it felt a lot like summer today as I was out running around and doing things. I went to a concert in downtown Detroit that my friend was in and ended up walking a lot back and forth to the area where I parked. It's good exercise but it reminds me that even warmer days are coming!  Today's outfit is a little play on words but it's Hi-Lo for this fun midi skirt and its color for all of the beautiful colors in this blouse and in this outfit! I love when an outfit comes together and it looks and feels fun and cheerful. That's how I felt about this look today. It's simple but put together and was perfect for wearing all day- to church, errands, lunch and that concert! I traded out the wedges for a pair of flats while driving and running around but the outfit didn't lose anything by having a gold flat with it!  I think if it were chilly, you could also add a denim jacket for warmth and the outfit would still look great!  ...

Sunday Style: Spring Fling

Image
Who else is ready for Spring besides me? The snow has melted (finally!) and the birds are chirping in the mornings. Time change has come and gone and let's be honest, it was a pain and it threw me off that whole week, but it means that Spring is here and that means warmer weather for us!  For today's Sunday Style post, I thought it would be fun to have a fling with spring. Brighter colors and florals and some pattern mixing is a sure way of cheering all of us up and getting us ready for the rain showers, flowers blooming and grass turning green.  Here are a few pics from today's Sunday Style look: Tee- J Crew (recent) Skirt- Mindy Maes Market (online) Heels- Loft (last year) Clutch- Express (last year) Bangles- Jet Chic Arm Candy (online) Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend!  Sandae
