WhatUp Wednesday #16

Image
Well, fall will finally be here in North Texas for a couple of days this weekend! Expected highs on Friday and Saturday are in the 50’s. I fully expect to see people coming into work on Friday bundled in their down coats and knee high boots and gloves. Tis the season! I am just excited that I can wear some longer sleeve things and some darker colors. I loved the fall in Michigan because it was cool and crisp and the time for apple picking, football and chili. The leaves would change and you could see your breath in the morning. You better believe I will be sitting here watching Michigan football and eating chili this weekend! I think I also might try my hand at making some apple butter as well! Well, darker colors and long sleeves were definitely represented in this dress that I wore today! I love the new Girl With Curves collection that is available exclusively through Dia&Co . Click the link to the right to get more information and sign up for your box today! I too...

Autumn Watercolors

Image
Okay, okay, fine. I like autumn. I am still resisting it and the cold weather that comes behind it, but I am liking the briskness in the air and the smell of fall. Most of all, I like the colors. There is still a lot of green but I am noticing the leaves changing colors to yellow, orange and red.  Similar to the changing of the leaves is this karinadresses in the Autumn Watercolor design. I am wearing the Penelope  in this design and it is just magnificent! I cannot say enough how much I love these dresses but the Penelope is not only flattering but it's got pockets too! I love the way the waist is defined and the skirt flows out a little. It balances out my smaller top part of my body with the larger bottom part of my body.  The colors are beautiful just like the changing colors all around us. If we stop long enough just for a minute, we can enjoy all of the beauty that is in autumn.  I've styled this dress two ways for you:  Dressy Casual ...

Style Spotlight: Perfectly Priscilla

Image
Be still my beating heart! I am one smitten kitten! I partnered up with Perfectly Priscilla  to share their online boutique and give my fellow curvy fashionistas a taste of what they have to offer. Even though it is the end of September, I am still not ready for the cold winter months that lie ahead. Fall is a sign of what is to come. Cold mornings and evenings: seat warmers necessary on the way to and from work and school. One good thing about fall is the fashion. It is a time for the autumnal hues to come out, the boots and head wear as well as the cozy sweaters. Ahh fall! Why must I be so conflicted?!  With the help of Perfectly Priscilla , I am showing you a couple of my favorite fall looks. The first is a gorgeous teal patterned dress named London's Calling . I paired this with some taupe booties and tassel earrings. Subtle accessories and footwear are a must for a busy patterned dress. And definitely check out the price on this one! Super steal!  ...

Purple Vines: One Dress, Two Ways

Image
These karinadresses are my favorite! I wear them and write about them all the time. But I decided that I should show you a couple of different ways to wear them so you can get more for your investment. They are great lightweight dresses that I especially love to pack when I travel because they don't wrinkle and they pack so well!  So here's the deal- remember on Sunday I said I wasn't ready for fall? Well I still am not ready but I thought I could wear this dress into the new season as well as wearing it now! This is the Trudy  called Purple Vines and I am loving the sweetheart neck and swingy skirt! I love that this dress shows off my waist and makes me feel so good!  For now, it's still in the eighties and it's still hot out during the day. The mornings and evenings are cooler but not cold. I wore this dress with some block heel sandals and carried a beautiful gold envelope clutch.  For the second look, I decided to wear some booties and throw on a ha...

Prepping for Fall in Paisley

Image
It was so sunny and hot earlier this week when I took these pictures. It's hard to believe that this week will be September! Before you know it, fall will be here in all its glory. The leaves will begin to change and cooler temps will arrive. We will be trading in our cold beverages for hot ones and baseball for football. I'm not ready for it!  This dress has me thinking about fall- before long, I won't be wearing open toe shoes, I'll be wearing boots with it! Even though I'm not ready for fall to get here, I am loving the fall colors in this karinadresses dress! The paisley is perfect and the colors so rich and saturated.  I'm wearing the Mia  style dress which is perfect for all body types. The tie can be worn in the back like I did or belted around your waist and tied at the side. I'm loving the wide sleeves and the material is so soft and silky! A home run in my book! Or I guess a touchdown since I'm talking about fall... Here are a few ...

Totally Talbots for Fall

Image
I absolutely love getting opportunities to work with brands that I love and have worn for years. Collaborating with Talbots was no different. I was asked to review the new Style Guide that was put together with September new releases for the Talbots Womens line. I reviewed the guide and then went to the store to put together some looks of my own.  I am a big stripes person-I especially love tops and sweaters with stripes, not to mention the occasional dress. This dress caught my eye when I walked in the door and I was anxious to try it on. One of the things that I love about it is the versatility. It's a classic piece when worn by itself but it can also be dressed down and made casual different ways. Here are a couple of different looks I came up with: The second look I put together was more casual and building around these gorgeous olive  riding pants . I chose to mix patterns and paired a striped tee with a  paisley scarf and riding boots. Let's not forget abo...
