WhatUp Wednesday #11

Image
As I sit here writing this, another hurricane is at it again! This time Irma who is hitting the islands and Florida. We have so much to be thankful for here in our warm (or cool) homes with food and water and everything we need. Last week North Texas had a gas issue with everyone and their brother getting gas on Thursday causing a shortage and numerous stations to have no gas even throughout the holiday weekend. Thankfully, I was able to get some in my tank before the crazy madness began so I was unaffected; although I did stay home most of the holiday weekend and conserved the gas that I had. There hasn’t been a ton of things happening this week. I have been super busy at work (which makes me happy!) and just focusing on that and my son who started school last week. He also started football and is very hesitant but I am confident he will pick it up and enjoy it. Though he’s mad at me now for putting him in it, I hope I have done the right thing and he will thank me later! Toda...

Sunday Style: Knitted Belle Boutique

Image
I am loving the warmer temps lately and it's evident that spring is on the way! With the allergies and rains, comes the flowers and trees and birds chirping and longer days. Oh don't get me started! Anyways, it's awesome to have lovely dresses to wear when the temps get warmer. I like the flowy style dresses that don't stick to your skin and get you all sweaty. You know what I'm talking about, ladies!  Knitted Belle Boutique  has so  many amazing looks to choose from!  So many cute dresses! Eek! I have two styles that I'm showing you all today. By the way, make sure to use the code CURVYGIRL25 for 25% off new arrivals!  This is the Border print off the shoulder dress . This is a beautiful white dress that can be worn like this or off the shoulder. I paired it with some fun sandals and a hat. It was incredibly windy on this day and hard to keep my hat from flying away!  Dress- Knitted Belle Boutique (online recent) Sandals- Target...

Sunday Style: In the Navy

Image
Navy is such a beautiful color. It's simple and a neutral and can be dressed up or down. Navy can be worn to formal events instead of black even. It's calming yet commands authority in perhaps a different setting.  Imagine my delight when finding this beauty from   gcgme.com ! The perfect stretchy fabric provides comfort while still staying classy! The waist defines and delights and the hem is the perfect length to show off those stems!  I dressed this Jenai navy blue ruched dress up a bit with leopard heels and some gold and jewels but I also have plans to dress it down with some boots and wear it for fall and winter. Like I said, navy is a neutral and can be worn so many ways!  Check out these pics of me in this wonderful navy dress! Here's the outfit deets: Dress- GCGme.com (online recent) Leopard heels- Target (early this year) Necklace- Purple Peridot (online) Bracelet and earrings- JCPenney (Liz Claiborne brand) Use the code "curvygir...

Prepping for Fall in Paisley

Image
It was so sunny and hot earlier this week when I took these pictures. It's hard to believe that this week will be September! Before you know it, fall will be here in all its glory. The leaves will begin to change and cooler temps will arrive. We will be trading in our cold beverages for hot ones and baseball for football. I'm not ready for it!  This dress has me thinking about fall- before long, I won't be wearing open toe shoes, I'll be wearing boots with it! Even though I'm not ready for fall to get here, I am loving the fall colors in this karinadresses dress! The paisley is perfect and the colors so rich and saturated.  I'm wearing the Mia  style dress which is perfect for all body types. The tie can be worn in the back like I did or belted around your waist and tied at the side. I'm loving the wide sleeves and the material is so soft and silky! A home run in my book! Or I guess a touchdown since I'm talking about fall... Here are a few ...

Style Spotlight: Candied Cottons

Image
Being a blogger has some pretty sweet benefits. One of them is meeting new people and making new friends in the process. Another benefit is finding new brands or new products and getting to introduce them to my readers and followers. Today I'm talking about a sweet treat that stays with you- in the form of adorable handbags and accessories! Candied Cottons is owned by the beautiful Lindsey who I've worked with before. Her products are handmade and oh so cute! In every order is sweet candy treat too!  Today I'm wearing an olive dress that I found on the clearance rack at Walmart and carrying the Felicity Foldover in pink floral. I love how the bag is adjustable- I can use the strap and wear it as a crossbody bag or I can detach the strap and carry it as a clutch.  Inside is a zipper pocket that I use for my lipstick and compact and the bag is big enough to fit my wallet, keys and phone inside. It's perfect for running around doing errands!  I'd also t...

Sunday Style: A Million Bucks

Image
I wonder what it would be like to have a million bucks. I wonder how quickly that money would be spent. I wonder if I would feel more safe or secure knowing I have a million bucks? I wonder if I would get treated differently if people knew I was a millionaire. Random thoughts that go through my head when people say "you look like a million bucks" or "I feel like a million bucks". Whenever I put on a karinadresses dress, I always feel like I am special - like this dress was designed just for me- or maybe like a million bucks?! It doesn't matter which style or color I wear, I can't help but feel pretty. The fabric is lightweight and easily packable and it doesn't wrinkle so it's great for traveling or sitting in meetings. I find I reach for these dresses more than any of the other ones that I own!  This dress is no exception. I was drawn to the color and print, but the Katharine style which shows off my waist, is also one of my favorites! I d...

Sunday Style: Fuchsia

Image
It's been a little while since I have posted a Sunday Style post on the blog! I've been busy with life and just haven't been able to get to it. I hope this changes and I'm able to post much more! I've been talking colors on the blog in a few of my Sunday Style posts and I thought today I'd do another one and talk about one of my favorite colors, fuchsia.  Fuchsia is a variation of pink. When you mix other colors with pink, light or warm, they create new versions of the color. Fuchsia is a deep pink mixed with blue. I'm drawn to brighter colors but I love the meaning behind this one. Fuchsia is all about inspiring confidence and assurance and maturity, a more responsible and controlled nurturing and love. You are confident and not afraid to take action. Remember that the journey is often more important than the outcome.  I cannot love this any more. In my life, sometimes confidence is lacking. I'm going to start wearing brighter colors more oft...
