Sunday Style: Black and White

Image
I was inspired by a couple of things for this outfit today. I can't remember where I saw it but I did see someone online wearing a similar outfit but with a striped skirt a few weeks back and it gave me an idea. I was also challenged for Style Me March to pair something together that you never wear together. I decided to look at this skirt and this tee together and immediately fell in love.  I love black and white together but you know me, I have to have some bright color in there too! I can't just wear black and white! I decided to wear some bright cobalt blue heels and pair the leopard clutch there for an extra pattern. I'm also wearing some J Crew statement earrings that have a little blue, mint and coral in them. I'm wearing my favorite Lia Sophia flower ring and some sparkly bracelets- one was gifted and one was a Groopdealz purchase. I also belted this outfit with a larger belt from New York and Company that has some detail on it as well.  This was such a

Beautiful in Blue

Yesterday's Style Me March challenge was Beautiful in Blue. I decided to take a day off from dressing up so I thought I would participate today with this one. I'm going to a baby shower today and I was thinking about what I should wear (naturally). I didn't want to be too dressed up but I wanted to look nice.  I decided to wear this beautiful cobalt blue basic dress from Gap and pair it with a jean jacket for a more casual look. This dress is super comfortable and has pockets and is waist-defining. It's on sale today online and there looks to be plenty of sizes too! It's going to be a go-to dress this year for sure!  I decided to brighten up the blues with some yellow and pair a nude flat with it as well. Top it off with a great leopard bag and you are done!  Here are some pics from the outfit today: I'm heading out to the shower and a little shopping too. I'm hoping I win the baby shower bingo or something-

Forty Before Forty: Archery

Image
A couple of weeks ago I tried one of my other items on my list- archery. I'm telling you that if you have never used sites like Groupon or Living Social, you should! It gives you the opportunity to try things, like this, at a cheaper price. I bought this archery Groupon and it was good for two people for the equipment and the range at a great price. Anyways, my friend also wanted to try archery so she and I headed out to the indoor range on a Thursday night for some fun. Yes, I did not dress for archery and yes, I was the only one in glitter at the range. I just wanted to wear what I already had on earlier in the day!  We got there and showed our licenses and then signed all the paperwork. The man took us over to the range and asked us if we had ever shot a bow before. Of course, judging by my outfit, I am sure he thought there's no way they've ever been to a place like this before! He gave us a bow and a can of arrows. He told us how to load the arrow into the

Sunday Style: Cozy

Another cold Sunday in the D. Yesterday it was a little warmer but today we are still in the twenties. Spring has sprung but not officially here in Michigan. Usually I dress up on Sundays but I got a call yesterday that the family wanted to meet up for breakfast. Since we don't see each other that often, I don't like to turn down an invitation to meet and catch up.  I was kind of glad to not have to dress up today since it is so cold and coincidentally, today's Style Me March challenge is titled Cozyness is Happiness.  I picked this outfit today because I think of what could be cozier than a sweatshirt? I love this one from Kohls that I bought last year because it is pretty with all of the embellishments on it. It's large enough to layer (which you all know I love to do) so I decided to be a little springy today with a flowered button up from JCrew that I got last summer. It's perfect for layering like this or wearing on its own.  I'm so cozy wearing

Style Me March: Days 11-20

Image
It's hard to believe we are almost nearing the end of the month already! We finally passed the beginning of spring so hopefully these temps will start to rise soon!  If you've been following along, you know I've been participating in a style challenge on Instagram. It's a list of a theme or a suggestion for each day during the month. It's fun to see what other people come up with too!  Here's the list of days and what outfits I wore:  Day 11- A Little Bit O Sparkle- I chose a look that I blogged about earlier also wearing my sailor skirt and this gorgeous JCrew linen tee. I love to show multiple ways to wear a look and this one is no different. This day was supposed to be about the sparkle so I chose one of my favorite statement necklaces to add some sparkle to this outfit.  Day 12- Sweet Pinks and Peaches and Day 13- So "My City"- I combined two days challenges on this one. It was a snow day for my son and I was incredibly busy at work so I decided to

Annie’s Homegrown Classic Macaroni and Cheese!

First of all, let me thank Influenster for sending me a complimentary coupon to try this family size entrée! I am not one to buy a ton of frozen food usually but I do enjoy trying new things and this was no exception. I found it very easy to redeem the coupon at my local Target as instructed and decided to plan a meal around this cheesy delicious dish.   In my case, it was a side dish, but I am sure that a lot of people actually use this as a main dish and that’s okay too! I found the dish very easy to prepare.   Literally, if you know how to read, you can make it. Pop it in the oven, take it out and stir, and then pop it back in and then serve! Easy! This was really great for a busy evening filled with other activities.  I made some barbeque pork chops and a vegetable to go with the macaroni and cheese.   I will be honest that having never tried this before, I wasn’t sure what to expect.   You know it says organic on the label-will it taste good? It was so delic

Young Eyes

Image
I was sitting in the chair at the doctor's office waiting for the eye exam to begin. I have to go every year so that I can get my contact lens prescription renewed. I thought I would also get some new glasses this year since I haven't gotten any in a while.  I saw a new doctor this time and she came in and introduced herself to me. She was very friendly and knowledgable and I really liked her a lot. She checked my vision and then told me that my prescription stayed the same again. I told her that I didn't think my eyes had changed in a while. She looked at my chart and said that this was 5 years in a row that my eyes haven't changed. She looked at my age on my chart and said " You have young eyes".  I went out into the frames area and proceeded to pick out my first pair of new frames in 5 years. I may have been a little too excited but a new pair of glasses is a new look! I got a pair that looks a little "nerdy" as my son said to me but th

Sunday Style: Blogger Style

Today's Style Me March challenge is "saw on a fashion blog". I have to admit that I don't read a ton of fashion blogs because I like to be original and create looks that everyone else isn't wearing. I also am not doing a lot of shopping this year and I don't want to be tempted to run out and buy everything that everyone else has.  That being said, I do like to read some blogs to get inspiration- similar to how I look at Pinterest or Instagram to get inspiration now and then. I think I tend to do this when I am feeling more uninspired- like now when winter just won't quit!  I also would like to credit different media outlets such as blogs and Instagram and Pinterest for said inspirations during these times. I have to say that I may not be as bold with things like pattern mixing if I had not seen so many other people doing it. I think the key really is to not copy someone all the time but to be an individual and dress uniquely and really have your o
