WhatUp Wednesday #48

Image
Happy Wednesday! We’ve made it halfway through the week! I seem to always start by telling you about the weather in DFW so today was sunny and sixties and windy. They’re calling for possibly snow on Saturday!?! I’ll believe that when I see it! At any rate, I’ve gotten my supplies to make a crockpot of chili so either way, I’m excited!  Today’s feature is this beautiful polka dot  dress  from  SheIn ! I actually photographed this last week when the weather was far less windy and more sunny. I’m loving the design of this  dress  including the fun ruffle sleeves and it’s super long on me making it a maxi but I bet my tall friends will be happy with it!  I’m thinking there are a few ways that I would wear this  dress  but for this time I’ve added a hat of the same color and just some  little booties that are cream. You could also do a chunky long boot and possibly a fur. I bet for those of you with snow it would be a beautiful combo pho...

Sunday Style: It’s Sweater (Dress!) Weather

Image
Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! I hope that you all have had a lovely and productive day and weekend! Mine has been spent sleeping and relaxing and eating and watching football and Poshmarking and all of the things!  Today’s look is about the sweater dress. It’s cold here and it’s perfect weather to break out the sweaters and all things warm! I think as a plus size woman, we don’t always think we can wear what smaller women wear- like a sweater dress! I think sometimes we are afraid to put something like this on our bodies. We might show off leg or you might see the curve of my butt or whatever our hang-up might be. I’m here to tell you to go for it! It really doesn’t matter your shape or size - if you look confident in what you wear and you feel good in what you wear, you’ll get the attention of others regardless of what it is. I know I felt a little self-conscious wearing this because people are gonna look! They’re gonna stare but more than likely it’s because they wish they had the ...

WhatUp Wednesday #47

Image
Hello there! It’s been a few weeks since I did a WhatUp Wednesday post but I’m getting back in the groove of things and wanting to get you all caught up as well!  So first things first! I went to a super fun pop up exhibit in Fort Worth the other night called  Snap151 . Think Museum of Ice Cream or something along those lines but instead of rooms there are backdrops where you can take pics to your heart’s content! I went with a friend so we could take each other’s pics and I had so much fun! I’ve been posting in my stories as well over on Instagram so make sure you follow along there as well so you can see even more!  I wore this fun outfit from  Eloquii  because I thought it would blend in and be fun with all of the different backgrounds! You can shop the sweater  here  and the skirt  here . Here are a few pics that we took:  If you decide to go to the pop up, the dates are January 7-27 and use my code CURVYGIRL10 for a discount on...

Sunday Style: Trust and a Blue Dress

Image
I haven’t written for a couple of weeks because I’ll admit I’ve been a little in a funk. Life has been passing by and I want to be able to actively participate in it more. This whole looking for a full time job thing really is a full time job. If you’ve been following along with me, you know that it’s been three months since I was let go and began my job search.  Before you say it, I know, I know. I’ve heard it all. You’ll find something. It’s their loss not yours. Something better is just around the corner for you. I bet after the beginning of the year, it will pick up. I’m telling you, I’ve heard it all. I even say it to myself. But when doubt and frustration creep in, it’s hard to get them out of your head.  So, I think I’ve picked my word for this year and it’s going to be Trust. I have to trust more that my life is meant for more than this. I have to trust that I will move on and life will indeed get better. I trust that I will meet the right people who will be instrument...

Sunday Style: Pretty in Pink

Image
The movie  Pretty in Pink  was released in 1986 but guess who didn’t see it until 2016? If you guessed me, you’re right! We weren’t allowed to watch these types of movies growing up and I finally one day bought the movie at Target and made it my mission to sit and enjoy it.  Mission accomplished! I loved the movie and I loved the premise of it- not just the high school romance, but also the making of your own clothes! I did the same thing in high school but mostly followed patterns and didn’t do a lot of creative work like Andie did.  Fast forward to 2018 and pink is actually one of my very favorite colors! I loved this suit as soon as I laid eyes on it and knew it needed to be in my closet! My son and I went to Deep Ellum in Dallas to find a couple of colorful walls to use as backdrops. I love the results!  I paired a black tank under the pink jacket just to make the color pop- you could do a top or blouse under it or wear it with a pretty bra. Any way you wear...
