Style Me March- Days 1-10

Image
I cannot believe that we are so far into March already! I have really been enjoying the Style Me challenges that @hilaryrushford has been putting together over on Instagram so I decided to join in once again this month!  I've said it before and I will say it again that I love these challenges so much because it acts as a guide and really helps me to be more creative! While I am still in the midst of remixing my own closet, having something like this helps me to stretch and really think about putting things together that I may not have done before.  I'll get down to it and share my looks for the first ten days. Enjoy!  Day1- My Favorite Color- my favorite color is green so I chose to use this gorgeous green bag with my outfit for the day.  Day 2- Perfectly Parisian- I featured this in a Sunday Style post but I wanted to wear something different but had to wear this outfit instead because of the cold weather. I love that I haven't worn this sweete...

I Really Love My…Sailor Skirt

Image
Happy Tuesday!   I decided that I would start a new blog series called, I Really Love My…, and share different items that I love and showing them worn multiple ways or multiple times. The first item featured is this navy blue sailor skirt. I love a good high-waisted skirt.   I don’t care what anyone says but I find them to be very slimming with a shirt tucked in.   I think that they are ultra feminine and very retro.   I purchased this skirt at Banana Republic a few years ago on a whim.   I thought it fit me well but I wasn’t sure if I loved it.   I decided to buy it and try to look at different ways that I would wear it. I will say that this has stood the test of time and has proven to be a favorite item of mine. I like this one because it is a knit material and has these great double buttons up the front.   I think it accentuates the waist and hips and shows off my curves in a positive way. I am showing you the skirt worn as a spring...

Sunday Style: Inspired by In Style

Image
I am a little behind on my reading of magazines lately, I will admit. I had the huge March issue of In Style magazine sitting here forever and I just got around to reading it yesterday. I enjoy the fashions and seeing what's trending and getting new ideas for my outfits.  I was reading an article and one of the items they were showing two different ways was a blue and white striped dress. I did buy a blue and white striped dress a few weeks ago that I have been itching to wear but haven't due to the snow and colder temps.  I decided today's the day. I'm tired of waiting for warmer temps- I'm just going to do it! Maybe dressing like Spring will help it to get here sooner?  I found this dress at Gap in my size on clearance and it was the only one there. I had been looking at it forever online and then it was sold out by the time I was ready to buy anything. I thought it might be meant to be for me to buy it. It's fate.  This dress has such a great silhouette and ...

March Book Club

Image
If you know me personally or if you've been keeping up with the blog for the last few months, you know I love to read. I have a tab on my blog called Book Club where I share the book that we are reading for the month.  The book club, known affectionately by SBC or Sandae's Book Club, was born after reading the book The Happiness Project. I won't tell everything about this book, but I will tell you that it literally changed my life and the way I think and do things. If you haven't read it, you need to. You do not have to be unhappy to read this book either. One of the things I learned from the book though was if you want something, like joining a book club, and it isn't readily available, do it yourself. And that's what I did. I started a book club a year ago and we are going strong. We've had two people join and one person leave and we've made new friends, read new books, and tried new recipes. I feel I have learned a lot from what we've read and...

Sunday Style: Perfectly Parisian

Image
Well, it happened again. I had a perfectly lovely outfit to wear and it dumped snow on us again. I can't really get away with wearing the beautiful striped dress and heels when there is so much snow on the ground! I am so over winter!  Anyways, I started a new challenge on Instagram yesterday called Style Me March. If you're on IG, you can use the hashtag #stylememarch to follow along with all of us doing the challenge. I love Hilary Rushford and the style challenges that she puts together. These are fun because they encourage you to use what you have and it's just basically a theme of sorts for the day. I can be as creative as I want when planning my outfits. Today's theme is Perfectly Parisian.  Now I have never been to Paris (I would love to go though someday) and am not really sure what one might wear there but I confess I did look at Pinterest to see what Parisian style might be. I already had a notion of what I might try to dress like when I picked out the...

2014 Closet Remix Challenge: February Update

Image
I've got spring fever! I need to get into the world and out of the house! February being the shortest month was one of the longest for me. I swear I have that SADD and find it hard to do anything after I finish working. It's so dark and cold out and I just am so tired and have no energy.  What does all of this have to do with the challenge? Actually a lot. I'm an emotional shopper just like I am an emotional eater. Since I haven't been shopping, I've been eating. If you give up one thing, you have to replace it with another. I'm smarter now that I realize this. I feel like this last month it was a lot harder to not shop. I see people on IG who say " I fell off the wagon" or "I did a month and I can't handle it anymore" or "this item was so worth it". I hear you all and I definitely relate to everything that you say.  I felt the urge to shop this month way more than in January. And you know what? I did actually shop. I made a lis...

Bright Colors

Image
I love wearing bright colors so, of course, for today’s Style Me February challenge, colors that make my eyes pop, I went for the brights.   I just happen to be wearing the brights on my legs though today.   Coincidentally, black and blues also make my eyes pop since I have hazel eyes and can wear a lot of colors! Yellow pants! It’s a risk to wear yellow pants, I think, but yellow makes me happy.   Yellow makes me happy while doing my mundane tasks at work and doing my regular work around the house. Yellow is one of those colors that restaurants use to make their patrons happy so they order more food and drinks too! If you look at advertising, you may also see a lot of yellow since it is a bright color and commands attention. These yellow pants from Lands End are so versatile! These happen to be more ankle length, but since its cold, I am able to wear boots over them.   I love that they are ankle, because when it warms up a bit, I will be able to wear flats w...
