Sunday Style: Purple Rain
Happy Sunday! Today’s post is a special one! I’m loving all things purple right now and it’s even perfect for the holidays or everyday!
Purple is often known as the color of royalty. Prince loved the color purple as he said he felt more “Princely” when he was wearing it. Did you know it wasn’t his favorite color though?!
Purple is a combination of red and blue. Purple is the color most often associated with rareness, royalty, magic, mystery and piety. When combined with pink, it is associated with eroticism, femininity and seduction.
Purple goes way back in history. Did you know that they used to get the dye from snails to dye their clothes? They used to take the snails from their shells and then a gland had juices that were extracted and put in the sun until they became the right color! I don’t know about you all but I love reading about the history of things so this was right up my alley!
Prince wrote the album Purple Rain as a soundtrack to the movie. Many analyze the term “purple rain” as many things but Prince himself said that it was referring to the sky being red with blood and mixed with blue equaling the purple. He referred to it as the end of the world and being with the one you love and letting your faith/god guide you through the Purple Rain.
So it’s kind of romantic? Well whatever your take on the meaning of the song, it’s a fantastic song that I’m glad he wrote.
Now on to the purple in today’s outfit! This sweater and sequin skirt from Eloquii are so beautiful on their own but even more fantastic when worn together! I paired silver boots and some purple tassel earrings with this outfit for the perfect look!
This is also special because this was part of the photo shoot that I did a couple of weeks ago! I’m still loving all of these shots and we did tons of pics in this outfit! Deep Ellum in Dallas is the perfect place to take pics and we loved the murals as well as the city scene. Enjoy!
Thanks for reading and following along with me!
