Ruffles on a Tuesday

You know when you have an outfit and it brings back memories? You remember where you were when you last wore it or the first time you wore it. Or how it made you feel a certain way? You remember who you were with and what you were doing? Today’s outfit for me was like that.

True story: I chose ruffles on a Tuesday in honor of my IG friend, Tracy @ruffletuesday.  Tracy is such an upbeat and motivated person and is always so nice to everyone on Instagram.  She was one of the first people that I really started following and liked her style.  I didn’t realize then that she really did wear ruffles on Tuesdays.  I digress…

When I chose this challenge for this day, I had nothing in particular in mind to wear for it really.  I had a flowered tank that I got last year at Target (along with everyone else) and considered wearing that.  I have a dress with a ruffle on it but I thought it was too dressy for a Tuesday.  I looked through the summer clothes that I had gotten out that I use year after year.  It was then that I remembered that I had this outfit and decided to wear it today:

Now, I remember this outfit vividly traveling with me when I was working in Reno about 4 years ago.  I remember that my friend, Kathy, and I had driven from Reno to San Francisco for the weekend.  It wasn’t a bad drive at all and we had a blast on our trip.  I, however, did not wear enough sunscreen and got a huge sunburn while we were having fun in the city on Saturday. I think it was the boat ride back and forth to Alcatraz in the sun and the reflection from the water that got me. The next day we went to Napa and I hadn’t even been able to sleep much because of the pain so I really wasn’t that interested in doing a whole lot.  Plus we were driving and had to head back that day so we didn’t want to do a lot of wine tasting.
Here's a picture of me and Kathy on the boat from Alcatraz:

On Monday, I went into train my employees and wore this outfit that I have on today. I wore it because it had no sleeves but wasn't considered "sleeveless" enought to get into trouble. I remember receiving a ton of compliments because I think it enhances my curves. I think when you feel good, you look good! I also remember going out to dinner with two of my managers and some co-workers at the Charlie Palmer Steak in the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino where we were staying.  That trip was a blast!

Needless to say, clothing doesn’t have to cost a lot of money in order to make you feel good.  I remember buying this blouse at JC Penney and I can tell you that I didn’t even spend $10 on it.  The skirt is also from there and I doubt I paid more than that for it either. I also know that wearing this outfit makes me happy that I didn't have to go out and buy something new! I shopped from my own closet and love the results!

I love the ruffles on this top and I love the skirt length. I love the way I belted it so more emphasis is placed on my waist. I love that there is a gold exposed zipper all the way up the back of this top too! I love the way that this top makes me feel glamorous.  More importantly, I see now why it’s fun to wear ruffles on a Tuesday…
Enjoy these pics! This was fun today as there was a breeze blowing and helped to show the fullness of the skirt even more!

Thanks for reading and following along with me!
